Hello Letter Lovers...

Found Letter Stories  💌

Every month in these newsletters we share "found" letter stories from around the world. If you're a longtime subscriber or new reader, we've started a new series on the blog for those stories!

Letters Movie Night

The lovely Dinah from The Hand Written Letter Appreciation Society is at it again! This Saturday September 18th at 7:30pm GMT pop on "The Lake House" wherever you are in the world to join us.

World Postcard Day

Hello snail mailers, did you know there's such a wonderful thing as a "World Postcard Day"? I was delighted to learn that there is and that it's so soon -- October 1st.  This year the theme is "Across the World on a Postcard". So stock up on your stamps and favorite postcards to spread some Postcard love on October 1st.

Write More Letters

It was one year ago this month that the 'Write More Letters' Project started. Since then thanks to the generosity of letter lovers we've raised over $500 for Hope For The Warriors, which benefits U.S. Veterans and Military Families.

If you'd like to participate all 'Write More Letters' Mugs, Masks, Shirts, and Totes are available via this link. To learn more about how the WML fundraiser works, check out our F.A.Q. here.

Hello, October!

Are you an October Baby? Would you like a surprise Birthday Postcard? Since starting this project in January I have sent over 100 Birthday Wishes to people all over the world. If you'd like to sign up please reply to this email.

Send a Letter Today

Our friends at From Me To You send letters to folks experiencing the fight against Cancer. It's simple: Write a letter, post it to the P.O. Box and From Me To You will record the donation then post the letter on to someone who's entire day your letter will brighten.

Talking Vintage Letters

Thanks to Maud from Penpal for taking the time to chat vintage mail and modern penpaling with me earlier this year.

From the Desk Of...

Every month we aim to write and share relevant blogs on letter writing or collecting! This segment of the newsletter is where you'll find them all in one place.

This month we're taking a look at this utterly fabulous mid-20th Century Letter Writing Guide. Do I have any Graphic Designer readers? I feel like you'll love this iconic cover like I do!

I love to see letters on the Big Screen so when the film adaption of "The Last Letter from Your Lover" was released last month I knew it had to be our September Book About Letters!

Thank you to penpalooza participant Jennifer Asplet for sharing her found-letter story of her grandparents love letter as a September Guest Blog Post! If you have a letter story you'd like to share, let me know.

Thanks to the lovely pals at Letters Connect for inviting me to give a talk on vintage Postcards from the archive at their August workshop. You can read an adapted version of the presentation, here.

In a blog I've long wanted to write we take a look at the life cycle of a standard letter and ask: Who wrote the first letter? Click here to read.
