Hello Letter Lovers...5 Years of Letters 💌This July we're celebrating 5 years of the archive! Cheers to the 500+ letters shared so far from over 20 different series -- and the many more to come. ![]() For a letter writer, it's rare I'm at a loss for words but whenever I think about where this project has gone in the 5 years since I started photographing and blogging (on Tumblr!) I am overwhelmed with appreciation for each and every letter lover who makes this possible. Thank you! Post Card ContestOur friends at From Me to You are holding a competition! From July 1st to 31st, all postcards sent to From me to You via their Donate A Letter program will be entered into the competition. The winner will receive a signed copy of "The Year I Stopped to Notice" by Miranda Keeling. ![]() From Me to You matches donated letters -- and postcards! -- with folks experiencing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Write More LettersAs part of the Flea Market Love Letters archive, The Write More Letters Project supports the charity "Hope For the Warriors" which benefits U.S. Veterans and Military families. Through the sale of mugs, tees, and totes we're raising funds to thank those who join the long tradition of many of the letter writers featured here in the archive. ![]() Want to sport your Write More Letters support with stickers? For every $5 you donate to Hope For the Warriors we'll send you 3 stickers! A Book About LettersJuly's "Book About Letters" is "Address Unknown". This might be the best book I've ever read for the feature on the blog? The Guardian called this book "the great, forgotten anti-Nazi book everyone must read". ![]() Listen Here This short novel was adapted to a BBC radio play which you can listen to here. "Collector Corner"This is where I like to share articles, videos, interviews etc. Basically, all things letters from around the Internet! Do you know of an interesting letter story? Reply to this email and I will feature it in an upcoming newsletter. $15k for 'Old Blue Eyes' LetterWhen Frank Sinatra responded to a piece by Chicago columnist Mike Royko in 1976, it caused such a stir that Royko auctioned off the sensational letter for charity. If you're a letter lover, this is not one to miss! Talking Flea MarketThanks as always to the folks who invite me to talk about Flea Market Love Letters. This month that included a spot on Lunchtime Live with Andrea Gilligan, a chat with the podcast "For Keeps", and this piece from the wonderful Kate Thompson. ![]() |
