What is the 'Write More Letters' Project?
The 'Write More Letters' Project is a limited time only fundraiser. One hundred percent of proceeds from merchandise sold in the 'Write More Letters' (WML) Project are donated to 'Hope For The Warriors'.
Hope For The Warriors was founded in 2006 and works to ensure "comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources". 🇺🇸
Flea Market Love Letters is a passion project. 💌 I always aspired eventually it would give back to the community in some capacity. Thank you for reading all these years.
Why are you hosting a fundraiser?
Since Flea Market Love Letters began in 2017 I have been adamant that I would not profit off the project. I choose to run the project in addition to working full time. I have been approached previously about merchandising the project which did not feel appropriate. However, I hope you'll read on for the story of Emily and how she inspired me to create the 'Write More Letters' Project. As a community which has enjoyed letters by veterans and will continue to do so, with this fundraiser we have a pretty awesome opportunity to give back to the greater good!
Why did you choose 'Hope For The Warriors'?
When Emily reached out after listening to the What Should I Read Next? episode I took that as a sign. She wrote:
After my boyfriend, who happens to be a graphic designer, set me up with an original design I hopped on a call with some of my top, trusted mentors involved in non-profits, and got started organizing. One of those mentors is experienced in the non-profit world and shared 'Hope For The Warriors' as a possible benefactor. I felt the WML project really coming together, then. I wrote to Emily again asking permission to share her story in conjunction with the fundraiser only to learn:
Talk about a small world! 'Hope For The Warriors' was founded in 2006 and according to their mission statement they: "... believe those touched by military service can succeed at home by restoring their sense of self, family, and hope. Nationally, Hope For The Warriors provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources." How Do the Donations Work?
However you are able to donate is great! If you are interested in purchasing a piece from the 'Write More Letters' Project, 100% of proceeds (called "profits" in the report generated by our store) from sales are donated and documentation of that donation will be made public and available for record.
