Daddy darling

Hello sweetheart – how goes it? Everything is all O.K. here. Sherry and I are both in the best of health. I went over to the farm and stayed last night and today. The gang of us went swimming over at the Tiogue. Had a swell time. I went down to the brook today and figured I’d be smart and set down on the rock on some paper bag and when I did the bag slipped and I slid right along with it into the water clothes and all. I got my rear end all wet clear through to my skin. Was it uncomfortable. Went down to Gardners Monday night and did some singing - George played his violin, Earle played the piano and I sang. We had a very nice time but George and I were both thinking of the same thing the time when you and I both went down and did the same time. Luciel was there that night too. She will be home Sat. morning from Tenn. She has been gone 9 weeks. Dick, has just come home – he came over from the farm on his bicycle.

Gee honey Bill Varr seems to be quite the boy about town. He is Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce. His picture was in the paper tonight.

Remember [unreadable] from [unreadable]. Well she finally hooked a guy. She was married to a sailor from N.Y. you know Turko, Lee’s husband, well he’s in jail for 6 mos. for no support.

Boy it sure has been hot here the last 2 days. A swim sure felt good. Thomas E. Dewy is the Republican Candidate for President.

Dr. Langmaid’s son was killed in action over France – he was a buzz - bomber. Did you know him. His name is Norman E. Langmaid. He was stationed in England too.

I am going to make myself some sun back dresses to take with me if and when I go up to Vermont. I also want to take them to Barrington when I go for over the 4th of July.

Alice is going to make Sherry a new dress for Freddy’s and Stella’s wedding. I would like to make myself one also.

Oh yes dear - our daughter now eats with a spoon and drinks from a cup. She has a tablespoon of Pablum twice a day in her formula and a tablespoon each of fruit and vegetables. Today she had peas and prunes. Liked them too. She gets smeared from ear to ear and decorates me pretty well but as a rule the biggest part of it goes inside. She weighs 13 lbs. and Hudson says she is nice and firm and that’s what he wants. So you see Dear she’s just what the Dr. ordered.

I held this letter up for a day hoping the pictures of Sherry would come - but they hadn’t so I’ll try to send it in the next letter.

By the way I’m writing this letter at 8 A.M. Dick has to get up at this time so to get to work on time.

Dad was pretty bad last week because of the rain but seems to be a whole lot better this week. I want to get in to see him on Sat. afternoon.

Sherry is lying in her bassinet wide awake and was smiling at me a minute or two ago. Mom is going to get her a hanging swing because she wants to see everything and definitely doesn’t want to be alone for a second when she’s awake. Now that she is 4 mo. old she doesn’t sleep as much as she used too when you were home.

Gosh honey guess I’ve written all there is to write about for this time so I’ll sign off and write again Friday. We both love you and send all our love + all the hugs and kisses you can handle.
