June 20, 1943.

Dear Mom,

I’m writing while waiting for your call to come through. She said in a few minutes. I slept in town last night – as we have pass which are good till 1pm today. Slept at the U.S.O they have very nice rooms 50 cents a night.

Ten minutes still the line is long (there goes the bell now) they say that you didn’t answer. Probably out to the to store or could it be your not up yet? (10:30AM) Will call back in Twenty minutes.

Call through.
