Thursday

Darling:

Honey, I think I babies are awful. Dad has been out on two calls since supper and neither of them have believed it is after eleven. He’ll probably be out the rest of the night and then tomorrow night he will be tired again -- this is a vicious circle and I’m getting tired of waiting.

Dad and Mom are planning to take a trip to New Mexico. They have a place in mind that is high and cool. Dad has a dentist friend out there -- Dr. Clark (Cornell is named for him) and he wants to have some teeth fixed. Cornell and I are going to stay here alone -- we should have a lot of fun.

Darling, I don’t know when I will get to see you again. I wish I could make it this weekend but I don’t think I can.

Gee, I get so lonesome for you sometimes I nearly die -- I love you so much.

Dr. and Miss. Azler went out this evening. Mrs. Hyde asked about you -- she’s the blonde with the just-so hair you remember, don’t you? She she said she thought that you were awfully nice and very pretty. She asked me when we were going to get married and I just said I didn’t know. She and Dr. Hydge were married at the end of his sophomore year and every time he gets a chance he tells dad the advantages of marrying in school -- a real buddy.

Well, sweet, I am rehearsing my speech every day -- I hope I get to say it soon.

I love you,

Jimmy
