July 23, 1919.

Dear Mother

I guess you will know before this letter reaches you that we’ve at least reached the old U.S.A. I can’t hardly realize it though, everything seems so different. We left Luxembourg July 7th. We were just seven days on the water. We had fine weather all of the way across just until we hit New York when it started raining and has been raining ever since we came on the U.S.S. Raganenon, A German boat. I think we will be split up and sent to different demobilization camps within a day or two. I will probably go to the Prisides. I will let you know when I get there.

Well Ma I’m real busy now so I’ll close now. I’ll tell you all about it when I get home.

Walter
