Somewhere in France

Dear Florence,

I received your letter yesterday and was very glad to hear from you, I am sorry I couldn’t answer you letter yesterday.

Because I received bad news from home yesterday. My father is very sick + they don’t expect him to live very long. They are trying to get me an emergency furlough through the Red Cross. The Red Cross send a telegram over to me already but I haven’t received it yet, My father’s one desire is to see me before he dies. So I am hoping that emergency furlough comes through. So you can imagine how much it has upset me. Tell Eddie I am sorry I couldn’t write to him. BUt I will write as soon as I get a little more time. I didn’t see Vince for a long time now, I guess I will see him before long.

Well I must close now, hoping this letter finds you in the best of health.

May God Bless You All,

Your Cousin,

Leonard
