Family Letters

This April we're all about the 'family' here at Flea Market Love Letters with a new family letter addition to the archive, a recently discovered project about legacy letters and a son's love letter to his parents in the form a book. Plus a special fundraiser! 

In 2025 we've received more messages than ever through our virtual letterboxes. We love hearing from you and your stories about how letters have touched your life. Thank you to each and every reader for being a part of this special community. 

Stroup

New archived letter alert! Introducing the first of a pair of letters dating to 1933 in the Stroup series. This March 1933 letter was written by 'Mother' to her daughter Mary in Indiana. Full of movie stars, Church dinners and weather updates it's a classic!

War & Music

When Larry Schnell discovered his parent's WW2 letters he began a process of transcribing that would lead to publishing. Check out 'A Sailor's Song: Lost Love Letters of World War II' for an intimate look at the role of letters and music during wartime. 

Legacy Letter

From one kind of family letters to another, I first came across the Legacy Letter Challenge in this news piece. This is a beautiful, thoughtful project and one I encourage you to look into.

Liz Gets Inked

Another fabulous Elizabeth is also getting a permanent postal piece this month! Friend of the archive Liz Kentish is fundraising for the charity 'From Me to You' by volunteering to get a letter themed tattoo!

She's close to her goal of £1700 for the charity which helps match donated letters with folks experiencing cancer. Even £5 can help brighten someone's day. Please donate if you can and help spread the word!
