My Dear Alston,
I was so relieved to get a letter from you this morning, and am glad you had such a nice week-end in New York with Harry +Rip. Don’t forget the next time you write to answer all of those questions I have already asked you. It was nice that you met Alice on the street, but it was a coincident.
I had a nice letter from Bruh Wilter from “Somewhere in the Central Pacific”. I’ll send it to you just as soon as I answer it. Hallie Fauk said this morning that he was quite near Pearl Harbor.
You don’t have any idea when you can come home, have you?
I saw Sema Dixon when I went to the Bank this morning + she said Jean was visiting Jacksonville, so I gave her Peach’s address + told her to get Jean to call her on the phone. Jean will be home next week.
I got the first allotment check yesterday which was 37.00 + I had to go to the Bank to deposit it.
I’m sending you an account of Laurel’s wedding, send it back when you finish it, as I want to keep it. Sue + Lily have real cute pictures of the bride + groom taken at the reception. I wish I could send them to you.
We aren’t very busy down here this afternoon but its mighty hot. It’s after four o’clock so we’re going to balance + go home by five.
We miss you more every day, and love you more all the time.
Don’t wait so long to write. I get so worried when I don’t hear from you. With all of Helen’s + my love.
Your devoted
Mother
