Happy Holidays Letter Lovers...

182 in 2020

That's how many letters we've read together this year. We went to the 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s -- sometimes twice. Thank you as always to the original authors of these letters. I hope the authors and their families know that it's my purpose to present these stories with respect and gratitude always. 

And thank you to you for coming along on this journey! 2020 has been a year of growth for the project. Thanks to some lovely folks who had us on some lovely podcasts there are more letter lovers finding us every day. Welcome!

They're playing the "get off the stage" music now so I'll wrap it up there. Thanks for a great year and here's to 2021! Read on for the Flea Market Love Letters end of the year rewind.

We started the year with a world on the brink of War in the 1939 letters to Katherine Gay. 

Next, we travelled from New York to Europe in the 1920s with the Stocker family. A decade after World War I the scars were still very fresh. 

Then it was off to World War II in the 1942 letters between husband and wife  Carlyle and Jennie Epler.

Next, we jumped into World War I and the 1918 letters of  Walter Bushnell. 

Over the summer we took a letter detour with Charlotte's Diary, a 1930s account in German of an Austrian childhood. Translation made possible thanks to the generosity of @photoswithoutfamilies. 

After that, we visited life as a young mother caught between romance and reality in 1944 with "Dorothy".

2020 had us seeing double with two sets of brothers in the collection! First, we went back to World War I and met the Green brothers in 1918. Then it was our turn with the Smith brothers in 1942 during World War II.

Last but certainly not least we're wrapping up the year by going back to the 1930s! In the letters to "Cicely" we learn that charm is not always what it's cracked up to be.

Write More Letters

Thanks to every one who has supported the 'Write More Letters' Project since it began in September of this year. So far we've managed to raise almost $500 for U.S. Veterans through the sale of mugs, masks, shirts, and totes. And we're not finished yet!
