Dearest Lila + Edward: - 


Rec’ed your sweet letter Sat. was glad to hear from you + you both was well. We are all O.K. + we are having plenty of hot weather but other wise we are fine. Paschal got your letter today Effie came + I gave it to her they have just about got all of their thing from around here. We went to town last Monday to see about some shoes that is why we saw her I wouldn’t have felt wright to seen her + talked I don’t know whether they meant to keep it a secret or not they didn’t say I told him to wait until after the war but he wouldn’t listen so now it can’t be helped I like Doris she isn’t lazy and she don’t mind doing any thing you should be here they went to her home Sat. + brought back about three quarts of peas, two chickens  box of brick potatoes + a piece of country meant, she is working. 


Romie didn’t say much about coming down with out me said he would wait + go to Gworel with you that will do him just as much good. Betty is in G. wood now has been up there over eek this past friday said she was having a good time, will be glad when you come home for it seem so long since you was here but it won’t be long now. I had a letter from Betty C. this morning they both was fine said when the war was over they was coming back east if the government didn’t get all of their money sure hope they can come back this way.

Dear Darling,was glad to here from you. It was good of you to think of Dady but a card would have done as well, you need your money in a time like this. You don’t know much I apreciate you thinking of me. Well hope you are feeling fine. Will be glad when this war is over and thing get normal again. Will come soon as you can I want to see you.
