17 Blachwater St.,

Rockdale

11 P.M. Friday.

Dear Auntie:

As  have found out that the single fare to Blackpool by train is 6/5, + the single fare by Ribble is 4/-, giving a total of 10/5 for the “round” trip, you will appreciate that I shall need to very busy if  decide to keep the shop open until 8.45 P.M. before catching the 9.25 P.M. train tomorrow night; so that in all probability I shall catch the 7.38 Ribble Bas.

I saw Mr Butterworth (of the Tech. School) out with his wife tonight as I was going to Tommy Redshaws + he called “Good Night” across the street to me, so we seem to have one friend at court.

As one might expect, John was not at the works when I passed tonight, happen he was spending the girls two + sixpence.

I see from your letter that he chickens are “knock-kneed” as well as possessed of the “gapes”, well “tha’ shouldn’t goo it fields it dark”.

By the way Ian King is still in Blackpool, near the gym now, + he has been joined by Arthur, who has decided to take his holidays this week due to extra work next week.

As regards to the shop I have managed to make a few good bargains, some of which have already sold after being doctored up, but I still have a jacket + some shirts to mend for tomorrow’s sale. The leather has been much in demand today.

As Pussy has just jumped off my shoulder I may now be able to write in peace.

The kitty now stands at 1”13”5, so all should be well for tomorrow, especially as I managed to repair some boots + shoes to fill up the window.

Well I am not going to close today’s second chronicle by asking you enjoy what is left of the holiday + to have some “chuck” ready for me between 11 and 12 on saturday night. So, for the present: -

Cheerio with all our love (from Pussy + Kitty too)

XXXX 10000 over

Wally + (pawprint) too.
